Superb crystals of interesting minerals are to me

The following specimens are from the collection of Joe Eburno (mostly). Joe sent me the pics and has allowed them to be displayed here. They represent very hard to find, very large examples of the fluorites from the now-closed mines of southern Illinois. To learn more about Illinois fluorite, click here. Please contact Joe Eburno directly to purchase any of these.

SPECIMEN #3    FILC-LCAB3

Fluorite
Minerva #1 Mine
Cave-in-Rock, Illinois
6.5”x13”
Weight = 14 pounds
Price = $300

Seven intergrown cubic Fluorite crystals, some with step growth.  The largest crystal is 4.5” on an edge.  The color appears black, but it is actually a dark purple layer over colorless Fluorite.  There is minor bruising on a few of the crystals which does not cause a major distraction due to the specimen size.

SPECIMEN #4    FILC-LCAB4

Fluorite
Minerva #1 Mine
Cave-in-Rock, Illinois
5”x9”
Weight = 8 pounds
Price = $65

This specimen is discounted because it has considerable bruising on the crystals.  The crystals are purple and reach up to 2.5” on an edge.  There are about 19 intergrown cubic crystals.  It is a good piece if you are on a tight budget.

Fluor100

This is a specimen I bought from Joe Eburno. It's about 14 pounds and the cubes are up to 4.5 inches on an edge. Like all of this large fluorite, it loves to be soaked in light. These pieces are incredibly sculptural and lend a different dimension to your fluorite collection!

NEW FLUORITE FIND IN ILLINOIS! THIS IS A REAL RARITY WITH THE MAJOR MINES CLOSED, SO GET A PIECE OF HISTORY WHILE IT LASTS!

Griffith Mine
Near Elizabethtown, Illinois

Over the past few years, a near surface deposit of Fluorite has been worked several miles from Elizabethtown, Illinois.  Since the Fluorite was deposited in tight sedimentary layers, there was not a lot of room for crystal growth.  Most of these specimens have several crystal faces showing while the bottom is flat where it was attached to the limestone.  The color of the Fluorite ranges from dark purple to light purple.
